I’ve had significant stress in the last few months because of a friend who has done one of her disappearing acts;  I’ve been imagining various shades of butt-kicking when she finally returns…  I know, I know, but she knows what I’ve been through and is really being a jerk.  My Daily Bible Reading from very early 4-10 from BibleStudyTools (which I just belatedly read) included Deuteronomy 14:13, which contains a bird reference that is very powerful to me.  I wondered if something else would happen to give me a reason to post about it.  And, right on cue, my newsletter from BibleStudyTools showed up, and contained the following words of wisdom:

“To restrain your desire to even the score

“If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge… but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,’ says the Lord.” Romans 12:18-19
Someone hurts you. Your immediate instinct will be to want to hurt them back. They brought you down, and you find a certain pleasure in bringing them down. How do you restrain the desire to even the score?
God will repay, so leave room for His wrath. You don’t need to take it into your hands when you know it is in His. You can leave it to Him.”

This wasn’t a big deal, until I had the urge to say out loud to God that I would accept that friend back without trying to take her to task or otherwise make an issue out of her behavior;  I was stretching at the time, and I got protracted chills on my arms, and my stomach too (which was a new one)…  which is God’s way of telling me He approves.

As the final touch, I was looking up a high-tech concept, glanced down that page…  and there was a result for a company with that same special bird name!!  God was not subtle today;  I’m so grateful, as always, for His signs.
