from JO’s sermon tonight:

our mind is like a computer, how we program it will determine how it’s going to function;  you can have the most expensive, powerful computer you can find, but if you put the wrong software in it, it’s not going to perform up to par.  in the same way, many people are not living a victorious life, not because their hardware is defective, not because there’s something wrong with them, but they’ve allowed their thinking to become contaminated, they start believing the lies:  I’m not talented, I don’t have a good personality, I’ve made too many mistakes, I’ve reached my limits.  just like a virus can slow down a perfectly good computer, our wrong thinking can keep us from our destiny;  if you’re going to live in victory, you’ve gotta know how to hit the delete button;  that thought comes, you’re just average, you’re ordinary-delete, I’m a masterpiece, I’m one of a kind;  you’ve seen your best days, it’s all downhill from here-delete, my future will be brighter than my past.  you’ve made too many mistakes, you’re all washed up-delete, I’m forgiven, God’s mercy is new every single morning. some of you, if you’d just start hitting the delete button, your life would go to a new level, you can’t go through the day thinking negative thoughts and expect to live in victory, your life is going to follow your thoughts

Romans 12:2 (NIV)

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

that simply means, reprogram your software with what God says about you.  God says you’re blessed, talented, equipped, forgiven, more than a conqueror.  all through the day, that’s what should be playing in our minds;  when thoughts come saying otherwise, no big deal, just hit the delete button, don’t give it the time of day

said to a man who lost his business:  your software has become contaminated, you have to start deleting those thoughts that are telling you you’re a failure;  the enemy is called the accuser of the brethren, he’ll try to remind you of every mistake you’ve made, every disappointment, weakness, he knows if you’re against yourself you will never fulfill your destiny; you have to delete the condemning, accusing voices.  we’ve all made mistakes, we all have things that we wish we could do over, but the past is the past, quit beating yourself up, you’re not supposed to go around feeling wrong on the inside, turn off the negative recording that’s reminding you of everything that you’re not, delete those thoughts, and put on a new recording;  I am forgiven, accepted and approved by almighty God, I have a bright future, I am a masterpiece

sometimes it’s not our own thoughts that are holding us back, it’s the negative things other people have spoken over us;  words are like seeds, if we dwell on them long enough, they’ll take root and become a reality.  there will always be people telling us what we cannot become, how we don’t have what it takes, how our dreams are not going to come to pass. too often, we latch onto the negative, and we develop what the scripture calls a stronghold;  that’s a wrong thought that’s keeping us from our destiny:

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (NIV)

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

I know people that had something negative said over them 20 years ago, and it’s still impacting their life. a parent told them “you’ll never be successful,” a coach said, “you’re too small, you don’t have what it takes.”  instead of hitting the delete button, they played it over and over;  now, it’s keeping them from God’s best.  you need to take inventory of your thought life;  what are you dwelling on, what do you believe about yourself, your family, your future?  ask yourself, where did these thoughts come from?  do they line up with what God says about me?

God is saying to us today, “who told you you’re not talented, you’ll never be successful, you’ve made too many mistakes?”  you need to delete those thoughts, those are the wrong voices, they will contaminate your software.  some of you are allowing what somebody said about you to hold you back;  there will always be people to try to throw water on our fire, to try to push down our dreams, some negative voice to try to keep your seeds of greatness from flourishing;  you gotta get good at hitting the delete button, you are not who people say you are, you are who God says you are;  I am not who my neighbor says I am, who my cousin says I am, who my critic says I am, I am who God says I am

1 Samuel 16:7 (NLT)

The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart

you may not be as “impressive” as someone else, don’t worry about it, God put in you exactly what you need, other people may not see it, but almighty God can see it;  people may have tried to push you down, leave you out, make you feel insignificant, let that bounce off of you like water off of a duck’s back.  are there any viruses that are contaminating your computer?  are you allowing what people have spoken over you to hold you back?  the scripture tells how we’ve gotta pull down these strongholds;  we can’t stop the negative voices from coming, but we can choose whether or not we’re going to dwell on them.  God’s given each one of us a delete button

we know the importance of a father’s blessing, and what weight and what importance that carries, but unfortunately some people don’t receive that blessing;  maybe you didn’t receive your Earthly father’s blessing, the good news is, you have your heavenly Father’s blessing, almighty God is saying to you, “You are my masterpiece, you are one of a kind, you have seeds of greatness, you are equipped, strong, talented, beautiful”;  that’s what should be playing in our mind no matter who tried to tell you otherwise, a parent, a friend, a coach, a neighbor;  delete that and reprogram your software, you are not defective, flawed, you have been fearfully and wonderfully made.  some of you have been through unfair situations, people have spoken things over you that they had no business saying, you could easily go around feeling bad, low self-esteem, low self-worth, no, don’t ever let what someone said or did keep you from knowing who you really are, you are a child of the most high God, God has crowned you with his favor.  people may have tried to push you down, make you feel insignificant, but that does not change who you are, you are still the apple of God’s eye, His most prized possession, God still has an amazing future in front of you, and if you will hit that delete button, and get rid of any strongholds, God will take what was meant for your harm and He will use it to your advantage

Psalm 27:10 (AMP)

10 Although my father and my mother have forsaken me, yet the Lord will take me up [adopt me as His child].

make sure there are no strongholds that are keeping you back. any time we try to move forward in faith, there will always be people trying to contaminate our software;  they may not do it on purpose, but they’ll tell you what you can’t do, and why it’s not gonna work out, my cousin tried and failed, my grandmother died of that same disease, the negative voices will come out of the woodwork, but remember, God didn’t put the promise in them, God put the promise in you, don’t let people talk you out of your destiny;  the experts are not always right, the experts told David he could never defeat Goliath, we should stay open, listen to good advice and wise counsel, but God’s ways are not our ways, sometimes God will drop things in your heart that don’t make any sense, things that go against normal logic;  faith begins with stuffing your ears full of cotton, don’t let people talk you out of it;  what are the experts telling you that you can’t do?  you’re too tall, short, young, old, it’s not a good idea, why don’t you delete all the negative voices and let almighty God be your expert, after all, He controls the universe, He knows what He put in you, He’s the one that can bring your dreams to pass;  are the experts telling you you can’t accomplish your dreams?  you can’t get well, get out of debt, go back to school?  no, start hitting the delete button, God didn’t put the dream in them, He put the dream in you;  you have what you need, the talent, strength, wisdom, favor, to do what God has put in your own heart

when my father went to be with the Lord and I stepped up to pastor the church, all the experts said “he can’t minister, he’s never done it before, he’s too young, he doesn’t have the training”;  sometimes God allows things like that on purpose, those are tests of our faith to see what we’re made of;  start hitting the delete button:  it’s not gonna last-delete. it’s impossible-delete.  you don’t have what it takes-delete;  just because you have a “limitation,” that doesn’t have to keep you from your destiny, start hitting the delete button, you are not who people say you are, you are who God says you are, reprogram your software, get rid of any strongholds that are keeping you back;  your life is going to follow your thoughts, some of you have had this negative recoding playing over and over in your mind, change the recording, put on what God says about you, you are blessed, forgiven, talented, a masterpiece.  don’t let any viruses contaminate your computer, and if you will be quick to hit the delete button, keep your mind filled with thoughts of faith, you will overcome every negative word spoken over you.  a limitation won’t hold you back. the experts won’t determine your destiny, God will, you will rise higher, accomplish dreams, overcome obstacles, and become everything God’s created you to be

Praising God

The random Bible quote generators gave me Psalm 63:3-4, and I looked up the surrounding lines to get this beautiful passage:

Psalm 63:1-8 (NIV)

You, God, are my God,
    earnestly I seek you;
I thirst for you,
my whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land
    where there is no water.

I have seen you in the sanctuary
and beheld your power and your glory.
Because your love is better than life,
    my lips will glorify you.
I will praise you as long as I live,
and in your name I will lift up my hands.
I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods;
with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

On my bed I remember you;
I think of you through the watches of the night.
Because you are my help,
I sing in the shadow of your wings.
I cling to you;
    your right hand upholds me.

For the first time, I imagined reading a Biblical passage in a sermon to a congregation…  and this was the one.  If possible it will be the first Biblical words I speak in my first sermon, whenever God wills that to be.  In reading the above I realized that I was failing to praise God;  I thank Him for every good thing that happens in my life, I talk to Him all day, I express my love and faith…  but none of those things are praise per se.  I stopped and spoke to Him, and began to tell Him how wonderful He is, that He is the best thing in the universe, the epitome of all that is good…  and I got BIG chills.  So, that was the right thing to do, and I should have been doing it all along…  and I intend to keep it up, since it clearly pleased Him.

I went to BibleGateway;  the quote on their front page was:

Romans 15:7  (NIV)

Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.

JO should really have used this one in his sermon “Accepting people for who they are,” posted 5-14.  It’s a keeper.

I just noticed that it’s 7AM and I haven’t been to bed.  I said to God, “It doesn’t matter, this is far more important than sleep.”  Another strong chill.  This daily focus on Bible quotes is clearly the right thing to do.

I have failed to mention that I have purchased my first Bible;  it’s the one with notes from JO in it.  What will I find when the urge comes to remove the wrapper and dive in?

3 John 1:11

The random Bible quote generator gave me the following:

3 John 1:13 (NIV)

13 I have much to write you, but I do not want to do so with pen and ink

Intrigued, I looked up the surrounding lines, and got this show-stopper:

3 John 1:11 (NIV)

11 Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God.

Makes you think, doesn’t it?  Have you done anything evil?  ANYTHING, even of a lesser variety?  Deception, mean-spiritedness, judgmentalism, pettiness, sneakiness, jealousy?  If so, have you considered that this is keeping God from making answering your prayers a priority?  If you haven’t done anything bad, first of all, good job, and secondly, you should still keep quote this in mind when deciding what behaviors to choose;  *I* certainly will.

The message is clear;  don’t act like they did (“imitate”), and feel sorry for them rather than angry as clearly they don’t have the closeness to God that we are blessed to be granted.

Another interesting quote is:

James 1:26 (NIV)

26 Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.

These quotes show very clearly how your behavior affects your relationship with God, so follow the Golden Rule when you interact with others, be gentle and kind, and God will bless you beyond what you asked for or even imagined.

I glanced up at an ad for I know not what, because this quote was on the screen and it filled my mind as soon as I saw it:

“Nothing is easier than to denounce the evildoer; nothing is more difficult than to understand him” – Fyodor Dostoevsky

Understanding evildoers, and helping as many as possible to accept God into their lives, will be the central goal of the 2nd half of my life;  I see this more clearly with each passing day.  To do this I must overcome an aspect of my nature that is too Old Testament to be spiritually transcendent in the modern day:

“Beware of all those in whom the urge to punish is strong” – Friedrich Nietzsche

Dear God, please help me to stop focusing on how people need to make up for their wrongdoings, because this discourages them from ever evolving.  Help me to just let past evils go when a person shows the desire to improve, and to focus instead on helping them move forward.  No one wants to move forward if they have to suffer or sacrifice or grovel first.

Having written the above, I generated a new quote and got one of my favorites:

Psalm 30:11-12 (ESV)

11 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
    you have loosed my sackcloth
    and clothed me with gladness,
12 that my glory may sing your praise and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!

Indeed.

It’s only a test

from JO’s sermon tonight:

We all face situations that are uncomfortable, we’re not getting our way, we’re dealing with a person that’s hard to get along with;  as much as we don’t like it, God allows uncomfortable situations;  when we’re put under pressure, it shows what we’re made of.  these tests bring to light impurities in our character that we need to deal with.  it’s not that God just wants us to be uncomfortable, these tests are beneficial, they show us weaknesses in our character, areas that are keeping us from being our best.  if we’ll be willing to make adjustments, improvements, let God refine us, then we’ll pass the test, that’s when promotion comes

1 Peter 4:12-13 (AMP)

12 Beloved, do not be amazed and bewildered at the fiery ordeal which is taking place to test your quality, as though something strange (unusual and alien to you and your position) were befalling you.

the purpose of the trial is to test your character.  every traffic jam, every person that irritates you, every time you’re tempted to worry, to be critical, to be jealous, to get discouraged, those are not just random trials, that is God testing your quality;  it’s an opportunity for you to grow.  in the difficult times we show God what we’re made of;  many people get stuck at the same level because they’re not dealing with what God brings to light.  the next time you get caught in traffic, instead of fighting against it, being all upset, try a different approach;  say, “I realize this is only a test, this is an opportunity for me to come up higher, I’m gonna keep my peace and just go with the flow”;  that’s passing the test.  when you go through a disappointment, something unfair happens, instead of being discouraged, living in self-pity, no, “I realize this is only a test.  I’m gonna keep my joy, God’s still on the throne, He’s got something amazing in my future”;  that’s passing the test, that’s how God refines us.  but so often, we try to pray away what God wants to use;  “God, I shouldn’t have to put up with this grouchy boss.”  have you ever thought God may have you there on purpose to do a work in you, to test your quality?  you may not like it, but that boss is an opportunity for you to grow.  that boss is like sandpaper that can rub the rough edges off of you.

God uses the people in our life, our spouse, children, friends, to show us areas we need to improve in.  we pray “God, you’ve gotta change these children, they’re about to drive me crazy,” no, the key is to look inside, and say “God, how can I change?  Can I learn to be more patient, understanding, forgiving?”  don’t ever ask God to change somebody else without first asking God to change you.  “My spouse knows how to push just the right buttons,” that may be true, but it’s only a test;  if you’ll start ruling over your emotions, exercising self-control, before long those buttons won’t work anymore, they can push all they want, it doesn’t affect you.  they didn’t change, but you changed, you let God refine you.  what happened?  your quality came up higher.  every time you overlook an offense, you’re passing the test.  every time you bite your tongue when you feel like arguing, you’re passing the test.  when you let someone else be right even though you know they’re wrong, that’s passing the test.  when you do that, that’s allowing God to make you and mold you into who He wants you to be.

God is more interested in changing me then He is in changing my circumstances.  yes, God will change the circumstances, God will change other people, but you have to look inside and say “where can I come up higher?”  I know people, they’re dealing with the same issues year after year, arguing with their spouse over the same petty things, getting upset every time they don’t get their way, stressed out every time they get caught in traffic, they wonder, “God, when are you gonna change this, when are you gonna make it better?”  no, God is not going to remove it, He wants to do a work in you, you’ve gotta stay pliable, be willing to make adjustments.  sometimes, you’ll even have to sow a radical seed of obedience, that means you gotta do the right thing when it’s hard, it’s hard to be kind to someone when they’re being rude to you, it’s hard to stay in peace when the traffic’s slowing down and your plane leaves in 30 minutes, but when you sow a radical seed of obedience, you do the right thing when it’s hard, you will reap a radical harvest.  any time we’re gonna go up higher, part of our flesh has to go down lower;  we’ll never see our character fully developed if we’re getting our way all the time.

the next time you find yourself in a situation that’s uncomfortable, you don’t like it, instead of fighting against it, have the attitude, “I must need this, or I wouldn’t be here.”  see it as an opportunity to come up higher.  maybe you’re standing with a group of friends and they start to talk bad about someone, start to gossip, understand it’s not a coincidence that you’re there, you’re there so you can show God your quality, you can prove to Him you’re going to take the high road and not say something that could damage their reputation;  maybe the person they’re talking about has done you wrong, you know some juicy information, could really make them look bad, in your mind you can justify it, you can think of 1000 reasons why it would be ok, no, you’ve gotta recognize that is a test, that’s an opportunity for you to come up higher;  if you’ll bite your tongue, cover the offense, then you pass the test, that’s what puts you in position for promotion. but if you give in, talk bad about them, fail the test, the good news is, God doesn’t write us off, He’ll give you another opportunity,  you’ll get to take the test again;  when you pass that test, not once but again and again, every time you do it’ll get easier, that’s God refining you.  what happened?  your quality came up higher.

most of the time we are tested in the area of our greatest weakness;  if you struggle with jealousy, don’t be surprised if you see every person that has more than you;  God will put you right in the middle of the fire, so to speak, to see what you’re made of, to test your quality, are you going to keep a good attitude, be happy for them, or are you gonna think, “God, it’s not fair, I work harder than they do, come to church every Sunday, why don’t I get any of these good breaks?” that pressure is bringing to light impurities that we need to deal with, it’s not a coincidence, the uncomfortable situations we find ourselves in, God puts us there on purpose so we can see the problem and hopefully deal with it. pay attention to the areas where you’re being tested.  you can rebuke until your rebuker wears out, you can pray, bind, loose, sing, shout, not gonna do any good, God’s interested in changing you, He’s not going to leave you alone, that test is going to come again and again;  the sooner you deal with it, make adjustments, the better off you’ll be

some of you are trying to pray away the very thing that God wants you to deal with;  the situation may not change, but when YOU change it’s not going to bother you any more;  I’d love to tell you that if you let God refine you, you deal with these impurities, then all these things that annoy you, that irritate you, that they’ll go away, but that’s not reality;  I still get stuck in traffic, now, it doesn’t stress me, I don’t get upset, I stay in peace, why?  my quality has improved, because I worked with God, and let Him make me and mold me, those tests have actually made me better;  the next time you’re tempted to be impatient, remind yourself this is only a test, I’m gonna stay in peace, I know God is directing my steps.  when you’re tempted to get your feelings hurt, somebody says something insensitive, remind yourself this is only a test, I’m not gonna get bitter, I know God is fighting my battles.  see it as a test, show God what quality you are.  sometimes God will allow us to be in a situation where we’re not getting any thanks, any kind of appreciation, it’s almost like people have gone out of their way to not express appreciation, to not compliment you;  that is not a coincidence, that is a test, God is wanting to teach us to trust Him in a greater way, and to not rely on other people’s approval;  don’t get discouraged, keep a good attitude, knowing that God is using that to work something in you, He’s growing you up, getting you prepared for greater things.

sometimes God will cause people in your life to not give you something so that you can grow up;  don’t live to please people, but instead do your best knowing He is pleased with you;  if you’re doing the work and not getting the credit, it’s a test, if people are overlooking you, take it all in stride, and pass that test.  that’s God growing you up.  it’s easy to get a chip on our shoulder and think, “Nobody appreciates me, see if I do anything for you,” no, keep the good attitude and say, “God I’m gonna be my best each day unto you, if people don’t give me credit, if they don’t recognize it, that’s alright, I know You’ll give me everything that I need.”  God wants us to get our approval, worth, value from Him, that way we’re not dependent on other people;  people will let you down, people will be too busy, people won’t always be there when you need them, really, no one person can keep you cheered up, feeling good about yourself, only God can.  we start off like babies, where we need somebody to take care of us, to encourage us when we’re down, to make sure we feel loved, appreciated, valued, approved, that’s all important, we need that for a season, but there will come a point where God will say, “it’s time to grow up, I want you to depend, not on people, but on Me.”  and God will remove that crutch, so to speak, that person that’s always keeping you cheered up, that friend that calls you all the time to compliment you, and tell you how great you are, He will remove, maybe not the person, but the encouragement, compliments, approval.  don’t get mad at them, it’s a test, God is saying, “I want you to look to Me, I’m everything you need, I’m your encouragement, approval, validation, friend, I love you, I’m for you, I will never let you down.”

if God didn’t remove the crutch, we would never grow up and become all He’s created us to be.  we start off like little babies, God will make sure somebody’s there to encourage us, to tell us how loved and valuable and needed we are, there’s a season where it seems like everything falls into place, your prayers are getting answered left and right, you open the Bible and read just what you need to hear, you know God is real, you’ve seen His hand again and again, and that’s great for a season, but the truth is, it won’t last forever, God won’t let us stay babies, there’ll be a point were God removes the pampering;  if He didn’t, it would hinder our growth.  if you’re not getting what you used to, the approval from another person, your prayers don’t get answered the first day like they did before, this may sound strange, but take that as a compliment, God is growing you up, He’s maturing you, getting you ready for the amazing future He has in store

the scripture talks about how as long as we remain a child, we’ll never receive our inheritance, we’ll never reach our full potential (the closest I could find to that is)

Galatians 4:1 (ESV)

I mean that the heir, as long as he is a child, is no different from a slave, though he is the owner of everything

but as you grow up, as you let God make you and mold you, then those seeds of greatness God’s placed on the inside, they’re gonna take root and start to flourish;  it’s funny how when we first start off how many times have we opened our Bible just randomly, closed our eyes and pointed to a scripture, and there’s something just what we needed to hear, just spoke to us (like is currently happening to ME with the random Bible quote generators);  you go a few years and start to grow up and open that Bible, randomly point, and it says “repent, you brood of vipers.”

Luke 3:7-8 (NIV)

John said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? Produce fruit in keeping with repentance

(Note that  John the Baptist was apparently a little weak in his people skills and had clearly never heard of positive reinforcement)

that’s when you know you’re growing up (frankly, this makes me feel weak in the knees…  I’m so used to God sending me a steady stream of messages that the idea of doing without them is vaguely terrifying).  now pass the test, learn to encourage yourself, stay faithful even though your prayers aren’t being answered on your timetable, don’t rely on other people for their approval, validation, get up every morning and say, “Father, I want to thank you that You approve me, You made me in Your image, You breathed your life into me, You said I’m a masterpiece, I’m valuable, I’m approved, so God I don’t need other people’s approval, I have Your approval.”   the more we grow, the more we mature, the less and less dependent we become on what other people think, or on what other people do or don’t give us, we get it from our heavenly Father;  some of you are frustrated because a prayer is not being answered, another person is not giving you the approval they used to, you kind of feel like that God has forgotten all about you, but it’s just the opposite, God is closely watching you, this is a test of your quality, God wants to see what you’re made of, this is not the time to get discouraged, it’s only a test, this is the time more than ever to dig your heels in and sow a radical seed of obedience, do the right thing in spite of what somebody is not giving you, keep praying even though it feels like God went on vacation, keep believing even though your mind is telling you it’s never going to change;  if you’ll do that you’ll pass that test, you will see that radical harvest

James 1:12 (ISV)

How blessed is the man who endures temptation! When he has passed the test, he will receive the victor’s crown of life that God has promised to those who keep on loving him.

there is a crown of victory waiting for you, the test you are in is not permanent;  it’s only for a season, you keep moving forward, don’t fight against everything that’s hard, let God make you and mold you, work with God, be willing to make adjustments, improvements, God’s always giving us opportunities to come up higher;  as you grow, mature, God is going to release the inheritance that He has laid up for you, it’s like nothing you’ve seen before, God’s going to release favor in a greater way, you’re going to come into supernatural opportunities, problems that have dogged you for years are going to suddenly turn around, loved ones that wouldn’t have anything to do with the Lord are going to suddenly come back home, dreams you’ve been praying about are going to suddenly come to pass, because you passed the test, God promises a crown of victory is waiting for you;  that means victory in your health, finances, career, in relationships, victory is in your future

Zephaniah 3:17

My Bible widget gave me this lovely quote:

Zephaniah 3:17 (NIV)

The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.

The random Bible quote generators had this:

Colossians 3:12-14 (ESV)

12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13 bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

That’s quite a lot of forgiveness.  I also got this:

Mark 2:17 (KJV)

17 … They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

Good stuff!!

Edit:  This is post # 333;  what is it about #’s that repeat that catches the eye?

from JO’s sermon tonight:

when we hear that phrase, most of the time we think of it as a bad thing, we’ve been set up, made to look like we did something that we didn’t do, but the scripture talks about a different type of frame:

Hebrews 11:3 (KJV)

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

it’s not just talking about the physical world;  the word in the original language is “eons,” meaning ages or times;  it’s saying God has a frame around your times, He has put a fence, a boundary around your life, nothing can penetrate your frame that God doesn’t allow;  trouble, sickness, accidents, they can’t just randomly happen, the frame is set;  you don’t have to worry about your future, there’s a frame around your health, children, finances;  it’s a boundary set by the Creator of the universe;  not only can nothing get in without God’s permission, you can’t get out, you can’t make a mistake big enough to break out of that frame, you can’t get too addicted, discouraged, angry, it’s a destiny frame;  God won’t let you get so far off course that you can’t still fulfill your purpose;  you may come right up to the edge, about to do something to get you in trouble, and you’ll bump into the frame, God will push you right back

God knows how to protect you, not only from accidents, wrong people, God will protect you from yourself;  sometimes we’re the most dangerous thing we face;  at the family reunion, you’re about to tell that relative off, somehow you feel a peace come over you, or they walk out of the room at just the right time, that’s not a coincidence, you better thank God for your frame.  this frame has kept us out of more trouble than we realize;  thank God for your frame or you might not still have a job, you might not still be married;  how many times when we were about to tell our spouse exactly what we think, exactly what they should do, and we hear the still small voice saying don’t do it, bite your tongue, walk away;  we take the advice, that’s the frame

in the scripture, David experienced this frame:

1 Samuel 25:1-36 (NIV)

Abigail was a part of the frame; God ordained her to be there at the right time to know exactly the right thing to say to prevent David from being distracted by killing Nabal and his men, which could have kept him from taking the throne

God is so good He will always send the right person to say the right thing to keep you from missing your destiny

Jonah experienced the frame:

Jonah 1-3 (NIV)

http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jonah%201-3&version=NIV

God will always let you do your own thing, go your own way, but He’s so merciful, at some point you’re gonna bump into your frame;  Jonah refused to go to Nineveh, escaped on a boat, and when a huge storm overtook it and the other men realized he was to blame, they threw him overboard;  God allowed the difficulty into Jonah’s frame, not to harm him, but to push him toward his divine destiny;  when it looked hopeless, a big fish came and swallowed Jonah up;  the fish was part of the frame.   you can run as much as you want, but you’ll never run out of your frame, you’ll keep bumping up against it again and again, it’ll always push you back towards your divine destiny; you can go out and party, live it up, not give God the time of day, deep down you’ll be miserable, thinking “Why can’t I enjoy this, why am I so unsatisfied?” it’s because of the frame God’s put on your life;  you are ruined for living a defeated, mediocre, compromising life, God’s calling is on you, you can go your own way, but God has a way of getting you back on course.  God has put a frame that you can’t penetrate, the enemy can’t penetrate, the wrong people can’t penetrate, the most high God has fenced you in, He’s put boundaries around your life so strong, all the forces of darkness cannot get in, and you cannot get out;  we can make mistakes, run from the call, try to ignore it, but the frame around your life was put in place before the foundation of time, when God breathed His life into you, He framed your world

that’s why, parents, we don’t have to worry about our children, they’ve been framed;  they may get off course, but sooner or later they’ll bump into the frame.  they can’t go too far to miss their destiny.  they’re gonna bump into it again, again, again, until they finally say, “I’m tired of fighting, God I’m gonna let You have Your way, I’m gonna honor You with my life.” God has the right people lined up for you, your children, your grandchildren, quit worrying about them and start thanking God for the frame; don’t ever go around telling your friends how your children are so off course and they’re never gonna do what’s right, zip that up and get in agreement with God, “Lord, I wanna thank you that my children have been framed, I’ve committed then into Your hands, and Lord You said the seed of the righteous will be mighty in the land.” you may not see how it can happen, that’s not your job, your job is to stay in peace, knowing that your children have been framed.  your prayers are activating God’s power, when you pray just imagine the frame is getting smaller, the boundaries are getting tighter, God won’t let them go as far as they used to, He’ll make them uncomfortable in compromising situations, He won’t let them enjoy doing wrong like they did before, God knows how to tighten the frame;  even when they do dumb things they can’t get out of the frame;  God will always have the right person

Saul was the biggest enemy of the church, he hated believers, he was having them put in prison, doing more harm to God’s people than any person of that time.  One day:

Acts 9:3-5 (KJV)

And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:

And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

God was saying, “Saul, I’ve got you in my frame, you’re trying to kick, run, ignore it, but Saul you have to understand I set the frame, I have a destiny for you to fulfill, and it’s not to stop My work, it’s to advance My work.” when people persecute you, give you a hard time for honoring God, make fun of you for coming to church, don’t let that bother you, they’re not really doing it to you, they’re doing it unto God;  Saul was harming believers, yet God said  “You’re persecuting Me,” God took it personally.  Saul became the apostle Paul who went on to write over the half of the New Testament.  some of you think that you’re too far gone, you’ve made too many mistakes, you may not be a religious person, none of that matters, all that matters is the Creator of the universe has put a frame around your life;  you can kick, run, try to ignore it, that’s just going to make you more miserable;  it’s hard to keep kicking against the frame, it’s not going to move, there’s a calling on your life, a destiny for you to fulfill, it has been set there by the most high God

Romans 11:29 (NIV)

29 for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable.

God’s not going to remove the frame, the sooner you surrender, and say, “God, my life is in Your hands, I’m going to live for You, I’m gonna get help with these bad habits, get in church and serve and grow and pursue the dreams You put in my heart,” the sooner you do that, the happier and more fulfilling your life will be;  you may have family members or friends like Saul, you’ve  been praying for a long time, doesn’t look like they’ll ever get on course, don’t get discouraged, stay in peace;  just like Saul, they’ve been framed.  part of this frame is a hedge of protection;  God has a boundary around your life that the enemy cannot cross;  if it’s not your time to go, the enemy cannot take you out, the frame that’s placed around your life was put there by the most powerful force in the universe

Psalm 91:7 (NIV)

A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.

I know there’s a frame around my life, nothing can happen without God’s permission;  keep the right perspective, you may have lost your car, but because of the frame you didn’t lose your life, you’re not paralyzed;  God protects us from so many things that we don’t even realize; you can thank God for what didn’t happen, because of the frame you didn’t have an accident, you’re not in the hospital, you didn’t get laid off;  the enemy doesn’t determine your destiny, God does;  God is bigger than an explosion, accident or car running a red light;  God has you in a frame;  death can’t penetrate your frame, God has to allow it;  if you’ve lost a loved one, while we may not understand it, the enemy didn’t take your loved one, he doesn’t have that power, God called them home, received them into His presence; an accident can’t penetrate your frame, sickness can’t penetrate your frame, God has to give it permission, He controls the whole universe

1 Corinthians 15:55 (NLT)

O death, where is your victory?
O death, where is your sting?

I’m not afraid of you, you can’t defeat me, I know there’s a frame around my life.  it’s a hedge of protection, a bloodline that the enemy cannot cross;  the enemy can’t just do whatever he wants, he has to ask God for permission, God has to allow him to do it;  when you go through tough times, you have a bad break, don’t get discouraged, remember the frame is still up;  you keep moving forward, and you’ll not only come out, but like Job, God will bring you out better off than you were before;  don’t worry about your future, you’ve been framed, there are boundaries around your life, put in place by the most powerful force in the universe, nothing can get in without God’s permission, and you can’t get out;  all through the day instead of worrying and being stressed out, under your breath, “Lord thank you that my life has been framed, my children are framed, my health, finances, dreams, future is in Your frame” if you’ll do that, you’ll be happier, have more peace, God promises the # of  your days He will fulfill, you’ll see His protection, mercy, favor, nothing will keep you from your God-given destiny
