(2 AM)

from JO’s sermon tonight:

we don’t realize how much God is in control;  God already has solutions to every problem that you’ll ever face, God is in complete control, orchestrating it all:

Isaiah 14:27 (ESV)

For the LORD of hosts has purposed, and who will annul it? His hand is stretched out, and who will turn it back?

this is saying, God has a purpose for your life, God is saying, “who can stop my plan, who is more powerful than Me, who can make a mistake so big that I can’t forgive it, have a problem so large that I can’t solve it, a dream so great that I can’t bring it to pass?”   God’s plan cannot be stopped by a bad break;  all the forces of darkness can’t keep you from your destiny.  sometimes we think because we have made mistakes and we’re not where we want to be in life, we must have stopped God’s plan;  you’re not that powerful.  you may have made mistakes, but it wasn’t a surprise to God;  He already has the mercy, shake off the guilt and move forward.  nothing that you’ve done or haven’t done has cancelled your destiny.

you are not powerful enough to stop God’s plan.  God has the final say.  nothing can snatch you out of God’s hand; no accident or crazy person can stop God’s plan.  God is in complete control of your life.  God is working behind the scenes, arranging things in your favor;  He’s making a way where you don’t see a way;  you don’t have to live worried, stressed out, trying to force everything to happen, all you’ve got to do is keep God first place;  honor Him with your life, and you will come into these destiny moments where you see God supernaturally protecting you, where you’re at the right place, meet the right person, that wasn’t coincidence, that was the favor of God moving you towards your divine destiny.  it’s not a lucky break, it’s almighty God saying, “I’ve got a destiny for you to fulfill, My plan will come to pass.”  you may not see how this can happen, but God will have 1000 ways to do it that you never thought of.  God is directing your steps down to the smallest details.  He can make things happen that you could never make happen on your own.  He is for you, on your side, and what He has purposed for your life will come to pass.

even when you don’t have the courage to do what you know you’re supposed to do, God won’t leave you there, God will push you into your divine destiny, God knows how to get you to where you’re supposed to be.  God is so good, loving, forgiving, even if He has to drag us He’ll still get us to our destiny.

we don’t have to live down on ourselves because we don’t think we have enough faith, don’t have to go around stressed out because it’s not happening on our timetable.  we can stay in peace knowing that our God is in complete control.  He knew when we wouldn’t have the faith, when we’d need a push, He’s already got your destiny moments lined up, where you’ll see His hand of favor.  a problem you’ve had for years suddenly turns around***;  an opportunity of a lifetime is suddenly in front of you;  those are destiny moments that God already has in your future.

God works in mysterious ways; He knows how to get people to like you; why don’t you trust Him, believe that in your future are these destiny moments.  you may not be able to make it happen, but God knows how to make it happen.  sometimes we get all worked up trying to make things happen, we’re discouraged because somebody won’t be our friend, we’re working overtime trying to convince them to like us;  if somebody doesn’t like you, don’t take it personally, they’re not a part of your destiny. if you’ll keep moving you will come into the people God has ordained for you.  God has divine connections in your future, people that will celebrate you, want to be your friend, even go out of their way to be good to you.****

God has it all lined up, big ways, small ways, God’s in compete control.  God is strategically orchestrating your steps.  you’re not here by accident, you’ve been chosen by the Creator of the universe, He has a specific plan for your life, something for you to accomplish;  you haven’t made too many mistakes, you haven’t missed too many opportunities, if you will keep moving forward, you will come into your destiny moments where you see God’s hand of favor, that’s Him bringing about His purpose in your life.  if you’re going to live in victory, all through the day say;  “I’m a person of destiny, His favor surrounds me like a shield, no weapon formed against me will prosper, what God started in my life, He will finish, I will become everything He’s created me to be.”

how you’re raised doesn’t have to stop your destiny, before anyone could put a curse on you, God put a blessing on you; the blessing always overrides the curse;  it doesn’t matter what people have said about you, it matters what God said about you.  you came through your parents, and from almighty God, just because you were raised in a negative environment, you don’t have to stay there, that is not who you are;  shake off every negative comment people have spoken over you and reprogram your thinking;  when God puts the blessing on you, it doesn’t matter what people say or how they treat you, all that matters is that almighty God has blessed you, and nothing else is of any effect.  when God created you, He breathed his blessing into you; you are wearing God’s crown of favor. when someone mistreats you, it’s easy to let that cloud your future; have a new perspective;  what God has blessed, no person can curse, people are powerless to stop the blessing on your life.

the enemy doesn’t fight you for where you are, he fights you for where you’re going.  you may be facing difficulty, it’s because God has something amazing in your future, there are new levels of your destiny, you have not touched the surface of what God has in store.  you’re going to see Ephesians 3:20, exceedingly abundantly above and beyond.  you and God are a majority . if God be for you who dare be against you?  what God has purposed for your life will come to pass.

God’s plan for your life is down to the very second, God is not a vague God, He’s a detailed God, a precise God, an exact God, He has already taken into account every attack that will come against you.

if it’s not your time to go, all the forces of darkness cannot stop you.  God is bigger than any enemy, injustice or sickness.  scripture says:

Isaiah 59:19 (KJB)

… When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.

God knows how to protect you.  just as God can make blind eyes see, God can make seeing eyes blind*****,  God can shield you from the enemy;  quit worrying about your future, quit trying to figure it all out.  God has you in the palm of his hand.  there is a hedge of protection around you that the enemy cannot cross.  what is meant for your harm God said He would  use to your advantage.   when you don’t see a way God can make a way, when it looks like it’s over God has the final say.

Hebrews 13:5 (NLT)

Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said,

“I will never fail you.
I will never abandon you.

He knew we’d all face situations that looked impossible;  God is saying, I will not fail you or let you go under;  my purpose for your life will come to pass;  I will give you another chance, I love you too much to let you miss your destiny;  stir your faith up, shake off every disappointment, every negative comment, the self-pity and put on a new attitude.  get up every morning and say “Father, thank you that you destiny will come to pass,”;  before anyone put a curse on you, God put a blessing on you.  if you will have this attitude of faith, honor God with your life, you are going to come into your destiny moments, that favor is going to thrust you to new levels, you will see God’s purpose come to pass in your life, overcome every obstacle, defeat every enemy, and become everything God’s created you to be.

(2:30 AM)

God came into my life 2.5 years ago because I’d been booted by one of the companies I do work for, one of the biggest ones, with no warning, for no reason, and with zero success to my standard pursuit of decision makers when there’s a problem with a company of this type…  my already stressed mind was just falling apart, and He showed up to catch me.  With my new faith, I was certain that God would get me back in with this company, but after a YEAR of working my way through every executive they had, all the way to the CEO, failed, my fight was over…  and I figured that I had so much from Him that one thing could fall by the wayside and it didn’t matter.  After all, He’d gotten them to send me every cent they owed me, which normally they don’t do when they dump you, PLUS another 50%, which I never did figure out…  they probably don’t know why they did it either, lol.

2 years later, this company acquired another of my major work providers, and suddenly my account with the 2nd company was frozen because I was flagged in the original company’s database…  along with many other people’s accounts, and they decided they had to manually analyze all these accounts at glacial speed to see who could get their account back.  The BIG thing, though, was that if the 2nd company unfroze my account, I’d then be back with the FIRST company who now owned them and pooled work offerings with them…  and I saw the hand of God at work, that working on His timetable He was answering my prayers to get me back with company #1.

After 6 months, the email announcing the decision for my account came from company #2.  Objectively, the likelihood should have been that they’d be telling me that they were upholding the “ban” from their new parent company…  but instead they gave me back my account, thus reinstating me with BOTH companies!!  In a way I could never have imagined at the time that 1st disaster occurred, God brought me to a flourishing finish.

I just reloaded my homepage, and my Bible quote widget had updated to:

2 Chronicles 15:7 (NIV)

But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.

So very true.

From JO’s sermon tonight:

when we get into a relationship with someone, it’s easy to try to make them into who we want them to be;  God didn’t bring people into my life to make them just like me, God made us different on purpose, different personalities, strengths, looks, maturity levels; the mistake we make too often is we try to fit people into our mold, it’s like we’ve got them on our potter’s wheel and we’re trying to work out the lumps; we’re not the potter, God is, God is the one that’s making and molding people;  we can’t change anyone, we can encourage and pray for them, lead by example, but only God can truly change people;  when someone doesn’t have our same strengths and we’re working overtime trying to make them just like us, all that does is frustrates us, brings stress and tension into the relationship;  you’ve got to give people room to be who God made them to be;  if God wanted us to think alike, have the same strengths and personalities, He’d have made us that way;  God likes variety;  you may be trying to change someone that doesn’t have your strengths, your kind of personality, your goals, yet God made them like that on purpose, you’re fighting against who they really are

we’re not supposed to go around looking down on people that don’t have our same strengths, you’ll enjoy your life a whole lot more if you let people off the hook and accept them for who they are;  when we’re always trying to change someone there’s this underlying tension, it says there’s something wrong with you, you’re not like me, you’re inferior;  we may not say it out loud, but with our actions it comes out suddenly in how we treat people;  a mark of true maturity is you accept people just the way they are, you don’t have this hidden agenda where deep down you’re really trying to change them and make them more like you;  the way God made us is we are drawn to people that have strengths that are different than our own;  we get into a relationship with someone and we think, I love your good qualities but I want you to have my strengths as well;  the truth is no person has it all;  the scripture talks about we have to make allowances for people’s weaknesses; what would happen if we all would start accepting the people God put in our life and not try to change them? we’d have better relationships, we wouldn’t live frustrated trying to make  them into something they’re not

too often we think people are supposed to be a certain way, but no matter how hard you try to fit them into that mold it’s not going to happen, it’s not who God created them to be; we’re not supposed to go around trying to change everybody, our job is to love people, to accept people, to let them be who God created them to be

God puts people in our life that are different than we are, different strengths, talents, goals;  too often we say, you’re not like me,  let me fix you, they don’t need to be fixed, they need to be accepted, approved, loved, encouraged, just because they’re not like you doesn’t mean that they’re less than, most likely they have strengths that you don’t have, don’t waste your valuable time and energy trying to make somebody just like you, let them be who God made them to be;  when God puts people in our lives like that that are different, it’s easy to think they’re far out, they’re strange, let me get them into my mold;  it’s not who they are, God is the one that puts the talents, creativities,  strengths into different people, our job is not to try to change them and make them like us, we should encourage them, give them advice, give them wisdom, but take people off of your potter’s wheel, don’t try to make them just like you, accept them for who God made them to be

if you’re always working on another person trying to change them, there’s going to be this underlying resentment that will develop;  why doesn’t he talk to me more, etc, it’s much better to say, that’s just who God made them to be, I can’t change them, only God can, and if He does, great, but in the meantime I’m not going to be frustrated; the other person may not change, but you can change, you don’t have to allow what they do or don’t do upset you for the next 25 years;  are there people in your life, you’re waiting for them to change and then you’re going to be happy, let them off the hook;  as soon as they fit into your mold then you’re going to give them your approval;  they may never change, it may not be who God created them to be, but  YOU can change, it doesn’t have to bother you or lessen the relationship, don’t focus on what you don’t like about that person, focus on their good qualities, remember the reasons that you fell in love

Proverbs 18:22 (NIV)

22 He who finds a wife finds what is good
and receives favor from the Lord.

give people room to not be perfect.  see the good.

scripture says

1 Peter 3:2

A wife is to enjoy her husband

(Note:  I can’t find any scripture that says that, and what the referenced scripture actually says is

1 Peter 3:2 (NIV)

when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.

sometimes we are not enjoying the people God’s put in our life because we’re too busy trying to change them;  just accept the person God’s given you, instead of complaining about what you don’t like about a person, start telling that person what you do like about them;  people respond to praise alot better than they do criticism;  it’s amazing what people will do when you see the best in them, when you honor them, respect them;  it strengthens the relationship and helps the other person rise higher;  it’s like a cork that’s inside a large bottle;  as long as there’s no water in the bottle, the cork will be at the bottom, but when you pour water in, the cork will always rise to the top of the water;   the person you’re in a relationship with is like the cork, they may be on the bottom right now, but as you give encouragement, show honor, respect, you’re pouring water into that bottle, they won’t stay where they are, they’ll continue to rise to the level that you pour into them, if you want them to be a better person, honor them in a greater way, accept them for who they are, give them your approval even if they don’t fit into your mold;  you have tremendous power and influence into their lives, you can push them further with your honor, acceptance, approval, or you can withhold it and keep them back

when we try to make people fit into our mold, we quit pouring the honor in, we quit respecting, we may not say it out loud, but by our actions they can feel that we’re disappointed, not proud of them, we’re focused on their faults and all the qualities that we don’t like about them;  take people off of your potter’s wheel;  they may not have met your goals, but you have to accept them for who they are today;  they may not be where you want them to be, but God is the one that’s directing their steps, God is the one that’s making them and molds them;  love them for who they are right now, don’t have the attitude  “I’ll love you as long as you succeed on my timetable, meet my standards, change the way I want you to change,” give people room to be who God created them to be, God’s plan for their life may not be the same as yours,  His timetable may be different than yours, God knows what He’s doing, His plan will be bigger, better, more rewarding, more fulfilling; don’t withhold your blessing, keep pouring in the honor, keep encouraging, respecting, and God will get them to where He wants them to be

too many people end a relationship because there’s one main thing they don’t like about the person, they focus on what annoys them, and magnify how they’ve got too much of this, or not enough of that, they’ll go find somebody else that has a strength where that other person has a weakness, but this new person will have a weakness where the other person had a strength;  it’s always going to come down to overlooking the weaknesses, seeing the best in them, accepting people for who they are;  someone will leave a person that has 80% of what they need because they find the other 20% in somebody else;  no person has 100%;  if you leave the 80 because you find the 20 in someone else, you’ll soon realize that there’s 20% that that new person doesn’t have as well; it’s much better to recognize no one person can give you everything that you need,  you’ve got to focus on their good qualities, don’t be frustrated by what they don’t have or what they can’t give you;  some of you would see your relationships go to a new level if you’d start accepting people for who they are;  don’t try to fix them, God is the potter, He knows what He’s doing, do your part and start pouring the honor in, start respecting them in a greater way, don’t love them if they meet your standards, love them for who they are right now; if you’ll start accepting and approving the people God’s put in your life, you’ll not only help them rise higher, and them fulfill their destiny, YOU will rise higher, have better relationships and become everything God’s created you to be.

Edit 9-22:  I ran across a quote that JO should have included here:

Romans 15:7  (NIV)

Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.

From JO’s sermon tonight:

most of the time we believe God loves us as long as we’re making good decisions, resisting temptation, treating people right, but we all make mistakes;  no matter how good you are, there will be times that you don’t perform perfectly, when you have doubts, when you fail;  when we don’t perform perfectly, it’s easy to think that God is far from us, “I blew it,”  “God would never have anything to do with me”

sometimes religion pushes people down, it says if you turn your back on God He’ll turn His back on you, if you make poor choices don’t expect God to bail you out;  the truth is that when you fall God doesn’t turn away from you, He comes running towards you with a greater passion;  when you make a mistake, God doesn’t love you the same, He loves you a little bit more, so much so that He pursues you, He’ll turn up the intensity, He won’t leave you alone until He sees you restored and back on the  right course;  God will express His love in a greater way.  He’ll send people across your path to encourage you, to help re-ignite your faith.  God says, “You may have let me down, but I’m not going to let YOU down,” “You may have lost faith in Me, but I haven’t lost faith in you.”

we don’t have to have a perfect performance where we never have a doubt or make a mistake;  we should try our best each day to honor God, but don’t beat yourself up if you don’t perform perfectly all the time;  God loves imperfect people.  God’s love is not based on our performance, it’s based on our relationship, we are His children.  we’ve all made mistakes, we’ve all failed, but none of us have failed as big as Peter, who denied Jesus;   but when you make a mistake, God doesn’t turn away from you, He turns to you;  He doesn’t love you less, He loves you more;  He comes after you.  out of all the people in the world, the only one named specifically by the angel when Mary came to check on Jesus’ body was Peter’s; God was saying, Peter, I know you think I’m disappointed in you, and I’ll never have anything to do with you, but that’s not who I am;  I’m the God of another chance;  when you fall, I come running towards you, when you turn your back on Me, I don’t turn My back on you (and Peter brought 3000 people to the Lord, the most recorded in scripture);  God is saying to all the people that have fallen or made mistakes, I still love you, I still believe in you, if you’ll let go of the guilt and move forward, I’ll still get you to where you’re supposed to be;  you’ve got to do your part and receive God’s mercy

God doesn’t write us off when we make mistakes;  God doesn’t cancel our destiny because we’ve taken a few detours;  the guilt that weighs you down keeps you from God’s best; God is calling your name today, saying tell them I’ve forgiven them, I’m not disappointed in them, I’m not withholding My blessing, I still have an amazing future in front of them;  He’s running toward you

in the scripture it talks about the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob;  Abraham is the father of our faith, Isaac was extremely obedient, but Jacob was a cheater and deceived people, so his inclusion was God saying:  I’m not just the God of perfect people, people that never make a mistake, I’m the God of people that have failed, blown it, had a rough pass;  when Jacob changed his ways later on, God changed his name to Israel to signify his new beginning, but God on purpose left it as the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to forever settle it that I’m not just the God of perfect people, I’m the God of imperfect people too;  you may have made mistakes, but He is still your God

the first person Jesus revealed himself to as the messiah was a woman that had made mistakes and was beaten down by life, an imperfect person;  too many people are sitting on the sidelines of life, they feel like they’ve blown it too many times, they’ve failed, now they’re letting the accusing voices convince them that they’re all washed up, God’s disappointed in them, you can’t expect God’s favor, no, you may have made mistakes, God is not running from you, He’s running to you, He doesn’t love you less, he loves you more, you wouldn’t be hearing this if God wasn’t reaching out to you; get rid of the guilt, shake off the condemnation, quit thinking what could have been, should have been, and get back in the game;  God is not disappointed in you;  you’ve gotta do your part and start moving forward, you can still fulfill your destiny;  God’s mercy is bigger than any mistake that you’ve made;  the scripture talks about how God searches the Earth to show Himself strong in people whose hearts are turned perfect toward him

2 Chronicles 16:9 King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.)

For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.

it doesn’t say that God is looking for a perfect performance, God is looking for people that have a heart that’s turned perfect toward Him;   that means that if you get up each day with a desire to please God, you’ll have times that you fail, but that does not cancel your destiny, your performance may not be perfect, but because your heart is perfect toward God, He still has something amazing in your future. no matter what you’ve done, don’t go around beating yourself up;  you can’t change the past, learn from your mistakes, but don’t get stuck there, keep moving forward, receive God’s mercy.  be bold enough to say God, I blew it, I know I was wrong, I should have done better, but God I know you’re not holding it against me, I know you’re not just the God of Abraham, you’re the God of Jacob too, the God of imperfect people

Jesus bypassed the people who had faith and went right to Thomas who had doubts, and said that’s WHY he went to him first;  when you have doubts, when you blow it, when you fail, we think God is so far away from us, it’s just the opposite;  God’s ways are not our ways, God will save the most unlikely people, He will show mercy when we think they deserve judgement, sometimes God will bypass the  people with faith to go to the one person that has doubt, it’s because God never writes us off, God doesn’t judge us the way people judge, God understands when you make a mistake or have doubt;  God doesn’t judge you by one mistake…  we call Thomas “Doubting Thomas,” but God calls him “Believing Thomas,”  “Forgiven Thomas,” “Redeemed Thomas, “Restored Thomas.”  Thomas is credited as the one who brought God’s word to India

God is not judging you by one setback, get rid of that negative label, don’t let that become your identity, turn it around, start seeing yourself as blessed, free, redeemed, successful;  too often we get our performance mixed up with our identity; you may have failed, but you’re not a failure, that’s what you did, that’s not who you are;  you are a child of the most high God;  don’t go around dwelling on your past mistakes, quit replaying all the times you failed;  all that’s going to do is depress you.  change the channel in your mind;  you will not be free from guilt and enjoy your life if you’re constantly replaying the negative memories of your past. if you’re going to replay anything, replay your victories, replay the times that you honored God, or helped someone else in need;  that’ll change your perspective;  you’d go to a new level if you’d just get good at changing the channel in your mind

in life, we’re all going to have times where we fall;  they’ll come up on the movie screen of your mind again and again;  you’ve gotta get good at changing the channel; put on your accomplishments, victories and the times where you’re proud of yourself.  will you receive God’s mercy, will you stop trying to pay a debt that’s already been paid?  you don’t have to go around feeling guilty, feeling wrong on the inside, not excited about your future, God is running toward you today;  He’s saying, “You may have blown it,  you may have failed, but I’m not disappointed in you, I still love you, I still believe in you, I still have an amazing future in front of you.”  your performance may not have been perfect, but because your heart is perfect toward Him, God is going to show Himself strong in your behalf.  shake off the guilt, receive God’s mercy;  you will rise higher, you’ll live freer, you’ll become everything God’s created you to be
