Under your feet

From JO’s sermon tonight:

how we see our difficulties very often determines whether or not we get out of them

to live in victory, you have to see every sickness, obstacle, temptation as being under your feet, no match for you, it’s not going to keep you from your destiny, it’s already defeated, it’s just a matter of time before you walk it out

if you feel discouraged, intimidated, worried, full of doubt, it pushes you down and stops God from working

Psalm 59:10 NLT

In his unfailing love, my God will come and help me. He will let me look down in triumph on all my enemies.

we walk by faith and not by sight;  when we talk to God, we look up, but we look down to talk to sickness, depression, fear

Luke 10:19 (KJV)

Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

if you will see these obstacles as being under your feet and already defeated, then a new boldness will rise up and your faith will activate God’s power in a new way

the first place we lose the victory is in our own thinking;  switch over to your eyes of faith.  you and God are a majority.

Nehemiah 8:10 (NIV)

Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

2 Samuel 22:40 NLT

You have armed me with strength for the battle; you have subdued my enemies under my feet

if you want God to make your enemy your footstool, you have to be still and know that He is God. when you’re living upset and trying to force things to happen, God is going to step back and let you do it on your own.  it takes faith to say “God, I know you’re fighting my battles and will make my wrongs right.  You promised it would work out for my good and I’m going to keep my joy and stay in peace.”  when you put your feet  up and rest God will take those things that seem like they’re over you, those things that are holding you back, and bring them under your feet. when you stay in peace God will take what was meant for harm and use it to your advantage.  your job is not to straighten people out, your job is to stay in peace.  when you’re in peace God is fighting your battles.  when you’re at rest, God will make your enemies your footstool.

God can vindicate you better than you can vindicate yourself.  if you’ll let God do it his way it will be bigger, sweeter, more rewarding;  God can take the very people that are trying to push you down and use them to promote you.

God is a God of justice. He doesn’t forget what you’re owed.  you may let it go but God doesn’t let it go;  He’s going to make sure you get exactly what you deserve

Psalm 23 (NIV)

5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies

God will bless you in front of your enemies.  God can promote you anywhere, but He’ll give you honor, recognition, favor in front of the people who tried to pull you down

all these things that come against us to try to get us upset, people talking, gossip, spreading rumors, those are all distractions, that’s the Enemy trying to lure us off course, get us bent out of shape, waste valuable time and energy on something that doesn’t really matter.  don’t give that the time of day, that’s not a battle you’re supposed to fight.  stay on the high road, and God will bring it under your feet.  He’ll make those enemies your footstool.

when you’re in peace, it’s a position of power.  when you’re at rest, God’s fighting your battles

God knows how to apply pressure, how to make somebody uncomfortable;  you don’t have to fight the battle, stay on the high road and watch God make your enemies your footstool

God says the problem may form, but you can stay in peace knowing that it’s not going to prosper against you.  all the forces of darkness cannot keep you from your destiny.

we may have things come against us because of genetics, things that have been passed down;  the good news is that  God has the final say, God can override it, so stay in faith

God is saying, ‘I’ll fight your battles, but you’ve gotta give them to Me;  come back to that place of peace.” don’t let people, circumstances get you upset. let God be your vindicator, He knows how to make your wrongs right .  if you’ll see these obstacles as being under your feet God promises He’ll make your enemies your footstool.  instead of being a stumbling block it’ll be a stepping stone.  nothing will keep you from your destiny and you’ll become everything God’s created you to be.

Dealing with it

From JO’s sermon tonight:

God is always wanting us to come up to a new level

when God asks us to do something hard, He is never trying to take something from us, He’s trying to give something to us;  whenever He’s moving you away from something, he’s always moving you towards something better.  God has our best interests at heart.  if we’re willing to suffer through being uncomfortable and not getting our way our character is being developed, and as we grow and mature God’s blessings will be released

God doesn’t require us to be perfect, all he asks is that we keep trying

When you have a humble, dependent attitude, asking in faith, God will never let you down.  it may not happen overnight, but God will give you the strength to rise above it.  when you look to the Lord for your help, that’s the kind of people God uses to do amazing things;  not perfect people, but people that are depending on Him, trusting in Him for his strength, His mercy, His power to fulfill their destiny.  God will never ask you to do something and then not give you the power to do it.  if you’ll do what you can, God will do what you can’t;  He won’t do for you what you can do for yourself

with every act of obedience there is a blessing tied to it

God asked Abraham to take his long-awaited son Isaac up the mountain and sacrifice him;  when God asks you to do something that seems hard, and you obey, something amazing will always follow.  God just wanted to see if he would obey when it was extremely difficult…  there was a ram there to be the real sacrifice.  every step you take in obedience the ram is taking another step towards you. when you radically obey, God will radically bless.

you never make a mistake without God giving you plenty of warnings.

if you have a heart to improve God will have incredible mercy on you;  God doesn’t expect us to be perfect, He doesn’t condemn us when we fail; as long as we get up and keep trying God will give us another chance again and again

if you will be willing to do what other people will not do God will show up and help you conquer every single enemy in your life

when you have a big dream you’re going to see God’s favor in amazing ways

shake off mediocrity;  you and God are a majority

Edit 9-3:  This sermon was repeated today, and there were some forgiveness-related comments that are worth adding on:

If you have areas that you struggle in, don’t ignore it, what you don’t confront you cannot conquer, get it out in the open;  God, these people really hurt me, I’m having a problem forgiving them, God I’ve got this resentment in my heart.  there are seasons of grace to break what’s holding you back;  there’s a season of grace to forgive someone that hurt you, when you feel God bringing that to light, you know this is your time, you can come up higher, don’t push it down, don’t ignore it, step into that grace, don’t miss your season, God’s bringing it to light because it’s a window of opportunity to come up higher.  when God asks you to do something that seems difficult, He asks you to forgive somebody that really hurt you, it would take a major effort on your part, a major sacrifice;  you can be assured that a major blessing will follow, there will be a major shift in your life for the better.  don’t let something small keep you from God’s best, like not forgiving someone, that’s small compared to where God wants to take you.

(3:38 AM)

This seems too basic to even mention, doesn’t it?  However, when I was filled with God’s presence today and was thanking him for His biggest blessings, I was listing people, but it did occur to me that the large amount of $ He has brought me is also an enormous blessing, and I said that, followed by “But of course people are more important than $”…  and felt a BIG surge in His presence.  I figured that made this worth a post.
