Bold prayers

(1:45 AM)

From JO’s sermon tonight:

we can’t reach our highest potential just in our own ability, we need God’s hand of  favor opening the right doors, connecting us to the right people, turning around what was meant for our harm

too many times we pray get-by prayers, which limits what God can do

God is moved by our faith;   if you ask small you’re going to receive small

Matthew 9:29 (NIV)

29 Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you”

a normal prayer is “God help me to pay my bills”;  a bold prayer is “God help me to not only pay my bills but have plenty left over so I can be a blessing to someone else”

if you’re going to see the surpassing greatness of God’s favor you’ve got to go beyond praying little prayers and ask God to do something big in your life

if you can accomplish your dreams on your own, your dreams are too small, there should be something you’re praying about that goes beyond your natural ability, for which you don’t have the talent, connections, resources, etc;  for it to come to pass you need God breathing in your direction, making a way where there seems to be no way

if you’re saying that you already have everything you need, that’s a selfish way to live;  if all of your needs are supplied, ask God for more so that you can give to others, ask God to increase you so you can advance His kingdom, don’t just think about “me,” have a bigger vision

Psalm 81:10 (NIV)

I am the LORD your God, who brought you up out of Egypt. Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.

however wide your mouth is open that’s what God is going to fill, if your mouth is barely open that limits what God can do, it’s not up to God it’s up to you, but if you pray bolder prayers asking for God to bring your dreams to pass you’ll see God’s goodness in a new way

we get conditioned to looking at things in a certain way, that this is how it’s always been;  we’re looking at things in the  natural, but we have to remember that we serve a supernatural God, if you open your mouth wider He will fill it, if you will break out of the  rut and start praying bolder prayers you’ll have some of these first times of getting what you want

take the limits off of God, stop asking for a C and start asking for an A, stretch your faith, God wants to do something new in your life, give you the secret petitions of your heart

God doesn’t want you to go through life lonely, unfulfilled and not accomplishing your dreams;  when you ask boldly, you’re not being selfish or greedy, you’re releasing your faith, you’re saying, “God I believe you’re the all-powerful creator of the universe and nothing is too hard for you”

Luke 12:32 (RSV)

Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom

it brings God pleasure to bring your dreams to pass;  go beyond asking for your everyday needs and start asking God to do something big that you can’t accomplish on your own

dare to say “God I’m asking for a blessed prosperous year,” it’s not enough to just think about it or hope for it, something supernatural happens when you ask, it puts a demand on your faith; when you ask God releases favor, supernatural doors begin to open

when you ask big it causes the creator of the universe to respond

God can speak to you in dreams ***

what you couldn’t make happen on your own, God can make happen for you

God is not limited by your background, your talent;  the only thing that limits God is our thinking

Psalm 2:8 (NIV)

Ask me,
and I will make the nations your inheritance,
the ends of the earth your possession.

as long as your dream is ultimately tied into helping somebody else, there’s no limit to what God will do;  when you say God bless me not just so I can be blessed but so I can be a blessing to others, that kind of bold prayer gets God’s attention

when God says “what do you want me to do for you?” don’t sell yourself short, don’t pray a barely get by prayer

God has placed seeds of greatness on the inside, you’re supposed to make your mark

God wants every generation to increase

if you can do it on your own you don’t need God’s favor;  when you come to the end of your natural ability, that’s when God’s supernatural ability kicks in

when you pray God doesn’t say “make sure it’s practical, logical reasonable,” He says “believe and stay in faith”

when you pray it moves the hands that moves the world

could it be that you’re missing out on God’s best because you’re not asking?  because you think it’s too big, not practical, etc?

James 4:2

You lust and you do not possess; you murder and envy and you have no power. You fight and you do battle and you have not because you ask not

let’s take the limits off of God, start praying bolder prayers, start asking for unusual things, dare to ask God to bring your dreams to pass, ask Him for the hidden petitions of your heart, ask Him even when it looks impossible, have a bigger vision, stretch your faith, that’s what allows God to do amazing things, if you pray bold prayers you’ll see God show up and make a way where there wasn’t a way

***  Oh yes, He does, I’ve experienced it!!

God is in control

(1:10 AM)

From JO’s sermon:

Having faith doesn’t exempt us from difficulties;  the storms of life come to every person

God is in control in the bad times just as in the good times

God will not allow a storm unless He has a divine purpose for it;  He never said he’d prevent every difficulty, He promised He’ll use every difficulty

God will direct the winds of the storm to blow you where he wants you to go;  God uses the storm to move you from point A to point B

if you stay in faith, don’t get bitter and complain, those winds will blow you to a new level of your destiny

it may have been meant for your harm, but God knows how to shift the winds, and use them to blow you forward, so you come out better, stronger, and the storm will move you to place of greater blessing and influence

God is in control of that storm, nothing is happening without His permission, and if the storm was going to keep you from your destiny He’d have never allowed it.  the reason He did was to move you one step closer to your divine destiny.

instead of using our faith to try to pray away difficulties, we should use it to believe that when the winds stop blowing we’ll be exactly where God wants us to be

sometimes you face difficulties not because you’re doing something wrong, but because you’re doing something right…  it’s just another step on the way to your divine destiny

when you have a promise deep down in your heart, everything in the word can come against you, the dream looks far away, but that setback is just temporary and won’t prevent you from becoming who God created you to be

there comes a point where you’ve done everything you can, prayed, believed, stood in faith, now you have to quit fighting it, quit trying to make it happen your way, quit trying to force it to work out, and just relinquish control,  let the storm take you where God wants you to go, He’ll never take you someplace where He won’t sustain you.  when you relinquish control, quit worrying about it, and say “God I trust you, I know you control these winds, where you take me is where I’m supposed to be,” that’s a powerful attitude

God is saying “if you’ll trust me I’ll shift those winds and  instead of blowing you backward they’ll thrust you forward”

quit mourning over what you’ve lost, let go of what didn’t work out, forgive the people that hurt you; when you dare say, “God I trust you to make my wrongs right,” then those winds that are trying to hold you back will shift directions and push you forward

when your prayers didn’t get answered the way you wanted on your timetable, let it go;  God has something bigger and better in store for you

sometimes God will deliver you from the fire, other times He’ll make you fireproof and take you through the fire

there are 2 kinds of faith; delivering faith and sustaining faith.  delivering faith is when God keeps you from the fire. most of the time we need sustaining faith, which is when God takes you through the storm.

God knows how to burn up the limitations that are holding us back and not harm anything that we need

as long as you’re being your best, honoring Him, He’ll shift the winds in your direction, instead of defeating you they’ll promote you; what’s now your test will become your testimony

even if God doesn’t deliver us from the fire, He’s still going to take care  of us, we’ll see God’s favor in a new way

some things you can only learn in the storm, when you don’t know how you’re going to make it;  God can make a way, He’s a faithful God

God knows how to direct the winds and not only protect you but to take you to a place where you can be a blessing to somebody else in need;  on the way out of your storm don’t be surprised if you have interruptions, inconveniences, not what you had planned;  God ordained that so you can be a blessing. don’t just look for your miracle, become someone’s miracle.  as you reach out to others in need, lift the fallen, encourage those that are down, become a friend to the lonely, that’s when your breakthrough will come

James 5:16 (NIV)

16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
one of the tests you have to pass is being good to someone else in the midst of your storm

(11:26 PM)

There was a high-paying job that I’d been emailed about at least twice, and for no reason I can explain I kept hanging back from doing it.  Today, I got another email about it…  for DOUBLE the pay!!  I completed it successfully…  and am still in awe of the many times and ways God acts to make the good life He’s given me even better.

(4:31 AM)

From JO’s sermon today:

speaking faith into your future

our words have creative power, and whenever we speak something out good or bad we are giving life to what we’re saying

Scripture says we will eat the fruit of our words

Proverbs 18:21  (NIV)

21 The tongue has the power of life and death,
and those who love it will eat its fruit.

we’ll get exactly what we’ve been saying.  you can’t talk defeat and expect victory.  when you proclaim great things to come you’re blessing your future

Proverbs 18 21: life and death are in the  power of our tongue

Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV)

21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.

When you speak out you’re releasing  your faith

Proverbs 6:2 (NKJ)

2 You are snared by the words of your mouth

He’s taken that one out of context, as it doesn’t mean what it sounds like within the original passage

if things are going poorly, don’t use your words to describe the situation, use your words to change the situation;  send your words out in the direction you want your life to go

once you get a picture of it on the inside God can bring it to pass on the outside

the more you talk about something the more you draw it in, don’t talk about the problem, talk about the solution

Scripture says let the weak say “I am strong”

Joel 3:10 (American King James Version)

Beat your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.

it is just as wrong to criticize yourself as it is to criticize someone else;  we don’t improve by being hard on ourselves, we do it by changing what we say about ourselves

with our words we can stop God’s best plan from coming to pass

God knew that if Jeremiah continued to say negative things he would get exactly what he was saying, that those words have creative power and would stop Him from His best plan

our declaration should be that I will become everything God has created me to be

if you change your words you can change your world;  if you train yourself to only speak victory you’ll see God do amazing things
